•The Gilt Mirror•
Lately, while visiting the gloaming, I have been reminded of one of my personal favorite Shadow Feminine archetypes.
In our most cherished retelling of the German faerie tale, Snow White, Grimhilde, the evil queen is known as Ravenna. She was not merely villain but victim, a woman whose beauty became both armor and prison. An evil queen with a penchant for punishment. Somewhere along her conquests of kingdoms she acquired a metallic disc with a dark power. A silver gilt mirror over 800 years old. It appears to be sentient to a certain degree and possesses the ability to answer any question asked of it with nothing but the absolute truth; it also seems to have several other abilities. The Mirror was owned by Queen Ravenna and was vital to many of her plots, an oracle born not of enchantment but of something far more haunting: the crystalline clarity that comes from a lifetime of unhealed wounds. It was the result of years of abuse dressed in prophecy, trauma reflected back as divine proclamation. This piece honors that liminal space between magic and madness, where divination and self-knowledge intertwine.
The Gilt Mirror is a divinatory talisman wrought in molten bronze and shadow. This glittering thread measures 111 inches of sinuous drapery designed to be worn in ritual and seeking. Slivers of pearls, freshwater & baroque, in hues of mocha, chocolate, espresso, and ecru with iridescent gold and peacock overtones gleam against glass, sterling, Swarovski, bronze, brass and a copper escutcheon that whispers of kept mysticism and forgotten secrets. Each element moves like liquid metal, like truth pouring from an oracle's lips.
Begun on the 1.1.1 portal, this gloamlength thread embodies the twilight wisdom that comes when we dare to look into our own gilded mirrors, not for vanity's reassurance, but for the terrible, transformative truth.
From a dark psychology perspective pearls represent perfected pain. They are the beauty formed around an ancient irritant. Worn as proof of resilience.
In metaphysical circles pearls represent wisdom, intuition and inner knowing. They also carry protective qualities.
Please understand that this is a one of a kind jewel and cannot be replaced. We will be using priority shipping with required signature to be sure it is delivered to your hands.
