The Cost of Denial

“That which you deny will not disappear. It festers, builds, and eventually demands to be faced.”

The Dangerous Myth of Ignoring Skills/Gifts

Some witches convince themselves they can ignore their psychic senses and “just do spellwork.” They downplay their intuition, silence their visions, dismiss their sensitivities. They think denial is safety.

It isn’t.

The truth is this: energy doesn’t vanish because you ignore it. Power doesn’t die because you pretend it isn’t there. It builds. It mutates. It lashes out.

A Witch who denies their psychic current becomes a Witch at risk — not from others, but from themselves.

When Energy Explodes

Psychic energy is like steam in a pressure cooker. Release it through practice, and it turns turbines, useful, powerful, directed. Suppress it, and it eventually blows the lid.

This is the root of what many traditions call poltergeist phenomena: chaotic outbursts of energy that seem external but are really psychic backlash.

  • Objects shifting or breaking.

  • Lights flickering without cause.

  • Unexplained noises, knocks, or bangs.

  • Sudden surges of anger or grief with no trigger.

These aren’t “random hauntings.” They are the Witch’s (I say Witch here because I’m talking to you, the Witch, but this can be applied to any and all psychic energy whether you are Witch or not) own neglected energy boiling over, demanding release.

The Psychic Backlash

Denial comes at a cost:

  • Physical: Migraines, fatigue, insomnia.

  • Emotional: Anxiety, mood swings, sudden despair.

  • Spiritual: Feeling “haunted,” drained, disconnected.

Think of it as psychic indigestion. You’ve swallowed your awareness, stuffed it down, refused to digest it, and now it rots in your gut, poisoning everything.

Servitors-Egregores Gone Rogue

Another danger: unintentional servitors or egregores.

When you repress energy, sometimes it coalesces into forms, thought-forms, fragments, energetic constructs. These “servitors, egregores” aren’t malicious by nature, but they’re unguided. They wander, feed, and sometimes turn on their maker.

They may appear in dreams, as shadow figures, or as that persistent “presence” you can’t shake. They are your own denied energy, externalized.

Why Witches Fear Their Gifts

So why deny in the first place? Fear.

  • Fear of being wrong.

  • Fear of being judged “crazy.”

  • Fear of responsibility that comes with awareness.

  • Fear of what you might see when the veil ““ thins ““.

These fears are valid. But ignoring them doesn’t erase them. It makes them fester. The only way through is practice, discipline, and acceptance.

Integration, Not Repression

The cure for denial is not “open everything at once and drown.” The cure is integration.

  • Acknowledge your psychic senses.

  • Train them with discipline.

  • Journal them, even when they’re inconvenient.

  • Cleanse and ground so they don’t overwhelm you.

This keeps the current flowing, steady and safe.

Exercise: Facing the Denial

Take out your journal. Write honestly:

  • Where do you downplay your psychic gifts?

  • What moments have you ignored or dismissed as “imagination”?

  • What are you afraid of seeing, hearing, or feeling?

Now ask yourself: has denial helped you? Or has it drained, haunted, and hurt you?

Awareness is the first step to reclaiming what you’ve pushed away.

The Witch Who Owns vs. The Witch Who Hides

Compare two paths:

  • The Witch Who Hides: denies their gifts, represses visions, refuses responsibility. Their energy stagnates, lashes out, or creates chaos.

  • The Witch Who Owns: trains, journals, cleanses, integrates. Their energy flows, builds, and serves their will.

One becomes haunted by their own shadow. The other becomes sovereign.

Which do you choose?

You cannot un-witch yourself. You cannot deny what you are.

If you try, your power will remind you, through chaos, through backlash, through hauntings of your own making.

So stop pretending. Stop repressing. Stop fearing.

Own it. Train it. Direct it.

Because the cost of denial is far worse than the work of discipline.
