The Waxing Crescent appears just after the New Moon, when a small sliver of the Moon’s face becomes visible in the sky—a curved blade of silver that grows a little bolder each night. For those who want specifics it occurs when the Moon is approx. 45 degrees away from the Sun in the sky.

This phase spans from about 1.5 to 6.9 days into the lunar cycle. Light is still minimal, but it is present. And with that light comes agency.
