Before we talk about where the Moon is today, let's talk about what day it is because for the witch, Monday is never just Monday.
Monday is Moon's day. Every Monday carries the lunar signature woven into its very name, which means the Moon's influence is the presiding force over everything we do from the moment we rise. The Moon governs the tides, the body's water, the rhythms of emotion and instinct, memory, dreams, and the part of us that responds before the mind catches up. S/he rules cycles, the waxing and waning, the return, the things that come back around.
For the Witch, Monday is a day when your intuition is structurally supported. Your sensitivity is not a liability today, it is the channel. Lunar workings, dream magic, water magic, ancestral connection, emotional healing, anything that requires you to feel your way rather than think your way, Monday amplifies all of it. The day itself is already with you before you even light a candle.
And today, the Moon has moved.

THE MOON ENTERS SAGITTARIUS
This morning, the Moon moved into Sagittarius, and when the Moon changes signs, the entire energetic weather of the day shifts with hir. The Moon does not become Sagittarius. S/he brings her lunar nature, hir emotional sensitivity, her instinct, hir tidal pull, into the territory of Sagittarius, and that sign shapes how those lunar qualities express and where they want to move.
So who is Sagittarius? Let's build the sign from the ground up, the way the old astrologers did, because understanding the nature of a sign is how the Witch learns to move with it rather than against it.

THE NATURE OF SAGITTARIUS
ELEMENT: FIRE
Sagittarius is a fire sign, which means it is fundamentally concerned with spirit, vision, expansion, and the reaching forward of consciousness. Fire animates. Fire rises. Fire does not stay contained for long. When the Moon enters a fire sign, our emotional body stops wanting to curl inward and starts wanting to move outward, toward the horizon, toward meaning, toward something larger than the room we're sitting in.
MODE: MUTABLE
Sagittarius is mutable, the last of the fire signs, positioned at the end of a season, the threshold place. Mutable signs are the great adapters and translators. They dissolve what the fixed signs held firm and prepare the ground for what comes next. Mutable fire means the flame is not a bonfire, it is a torch being carried somewhere. There is direction here. There is journey. The mutable quality gives Sagittarius its restlessness, its hunger for the next thing, its unwillingness to be pinned down.
TEMPERAMENT: HOT AND DRY = CHOLERIC
Sagittarius carries the choleric temperament: hot and dry. Hot means active, outward-moving, bold, generating. Dry means separating, drawing distinctions, reaching toward clarity, cutting through the fog. The choleric temperament is fiery in the fullest sense: enthusiastic, direct, sometimes blunt, prone to excess when unchecked. It is the temperament of the archer who does not hesitate before releasing the arrow.
For the Witch, hot and dry energy on a Moon day (which is naturally cold and moist) creates an interesting tension. The Moon wants to receive; Sagittarius wants to launch. The Moon wants to feel; Sagittarius wants to understand. This is not friction to fight, it is a creative polarity. Today you can use that Sagittarian fire to move what the Moon stirs up, rather than sitting with feeling indefinitely.
SECT: DIURNAL
Sagittarius belongs to the diurnal sect, the daytime team. It is a sign that functions with more ease and clarity in daylight, in the open, in the above-ground world. The Moon, however, is a nocturnal planet. S/he is nighttime, hidden, interior. When a nocturnal planet (even though the Moon is a Luminary but anywhoo let's move on) moves through a diurnal sign, there is a slight tension of nature, the Moon's instinct toward interiority is being asked to function in a more outward, open-sky kind of energy. This is why today may feel like you want to stay home and also want to run toward the hills at the same time. Both are true. Both are the sky.
RULING PLANET: JUPITER
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the Great Benefic, the Expander, the one who multiplies whatever he touches. This means that today, the Moon is moving through Jupiter's territory. Everything the Moon activates today carries a Jupiterian quality: breadth, generosity, optimism, philosophical hunger, the desire to find meaning in feeling. Emotion today doesn't want to be small or contained, it wants to stretch toward something that makes sense of itself.
And because we are currently in a Jupiter retrograde, the ruler of the sign the Moon is visiting is turned inward. The expansion is happening below the surface. The Sagittarian Moon today is reaching for meaning that lives in memory and inner landscape rather than outer adventure.

Sagittarius rules the outdoors, specifically: hills, the highest ground around you, open elevated land, stables and places where horses or cattle are kept. It belongs to the wild margins, the upper reaches, the places where the sky is close.
Inside the home, Sagittarius rules the upper rooms and rooms near fire. The top floor, the attic, the space closest to the roof of the world, the hearth room, the chimney corner.
For the Witch, this means: if you want to tap into today's lunar-Sagittarian energy, go up. Physically. Go outside to the highest ground near you, even if that is just the top of a hill in a park. Take your working to an upper room of your home. Set your altar near the fireplace or the hearth. Let your practice happen at elevation rather than at floor level. The energy is not in the cellar today, it is in the rafters.
DIRECTION: EAST BY SOUTH
Sagittarius rules the direction of East by South, a direction that carries both the energy of the rising (East, new beginnings, the dawn, the forward edge of things) and the warmth and fire of the southern quarter. For the Witch, this is the direction to open your working toward today. Face East by South when you call in the energy of this transit. Place significant objects in the East by South quarter of your altar or your working space. If you are doing directional work, calling quarters, setting wards, casting a circle, acknowledge East by South as the charged direction of this day. It is where the Sagittarian current is flowing from.

THE BODY | THIGHS, ASS & MUSCLES
Sagittarius rules the thighs, the ass (Butt, Buttocks lol whatever), and the muscles of the body generally. The sign ruling a part of the body tells you where both vitality and vulnerability concentrate when that sign is active.
Today, with the Moon in Sagittarius, this is a genuinely good day to work with your body physically, to move, stretch, strengthen. The energy wants to go into the legs and the large muscle groups. A long walk up a hill (very Sagittarian), a run, yoga with deep hip and hamstring stretches, any movement that activates the thighs, all of this works with rather than against today's sky.
For the Witch, body-based magic is particularly supported when the Moon is in the sign governing the body part you're working with. If you carry tension in your hips and thighs, if that is where you hold fear, grief, or stagnant energy, today the Moon is literally lighting that area up and making it available for release. Massage, movement, anointing the thighs and legs with an appropriate oil during a working, or simply doing breathwork that intentionally directs energy down into the lower body and legs, all of it lands differently today.
